Cultures and Traditions of Madang

Biggest Balangut in the History of the people of Yabob and Bilbil area of Madang Province. This balangut represents the historical traditional trading route by the ancestors and forefathers of the people of Bell society of Madang  with the people in Karkar Island, Bakbak island, Manam Island, Bogia and all the way to Siassi in the Morobe province. They use to travel long distance to trade clay pots and baskets. This recent Balangut was built as a cultural hertitage in the Madang Festival hosted by Hon.Governor Jim Kas on 13th -16th September 2013.

 


Amazing Kangal of Bandit, Saidor LLG, Raicoast District in Madang. With the instinct bird feaathers swaying so high up in the heads of very humbled and strong men whom were nominted out of hausman as the most strongest men to perform in a community host festival. It is remarkable Kangal Festival that attracts most of the local tourists and neighbouring small Islands, tribes and clans to pay visit for an extravanza Kangal Festival of Raicoast. It is one of the most scenic mini festival in Madang where all the clans within the Saidor LLG gathers to display their utmost traditions and cultures with amazing beating sound from the kundus with patterns and steps while singing and dancing to the mother nature.
